How the figures were worked out
The figures come from Fuel Finder, the government scheme under which every UK forecourt must report its prices within 30 minutes of a change, published as open data under the Open Government Licence. British Fuel Prices records the feed several times a day. Averages cover the forecourts on its Manchester page that reported a price in the 14 days to 2 November 2026; older prices are left out. The Manchester area is the 31 M postcode districts on that page, so it reaches beyond the city council boundary. Weekly changes compare the same forecourts’ prices at both dates. Prices are pump prices in pence per litre, including duty and VAT.
