Diesel cost an average of 197.4p a litre across the 73 forecourts in the Manchester area that were reporting diesel prices to the government’s Fuel Finder scheme on 22 October 2026, 1.4p below the UK average of 198.8p.
The cheapest diesel open to all drivers in the Manchester area was 188.9p at Atherton Superstore (Tesco), M46 0AG. The dearest was 203.9p at Shell Kingsburn, M19 1RD. For a business buying fuel, that 15.0p difference is worth £150 on every 1,000 litres, or £8.25 on a 55 litre tank.
Costco Manchester was cheaper still at 187.9p, but Costco forecourts are for members only, so it is left out of the cheapest figure above.
Like for like, diesel prices at the 62 of those forecourts that reported on both 15 October and 22 October fell by an average of 0.5p a litre over the week. Among them, 4 raised their price, 17 cut it and the rest did not change.
Unleaded petrol (E10) averaged 172.7p across 73 forecourts, 0.7p below the UK average of 173.4p. It ranged from 166.9p at Limes Service Station (Texaco) to 179.9p at Shell Kingsburn.
Supermarket forecourts were the cheaper place to fill up with diesel: they averaged 194.7p across 22 sites, against 198.8p at the other 50.
For fleets, 48 of the 73 forecourts selling diesel told Fuel Finder they sell fuel 24 hours a day, and 9 have AdBlue at the pump. None of them listed HVO renewable diesel.
Across the North West, diesel averaged 198.6p and unleaded 173.9p on the same figures, and like for like diesel fell by an average of 0.3p over the week across 442 forecourts.
How the figures were worked out
The figures come from Fuel Finder, the government scheme under which every UK forecourt must report its prices within 30 minutes of a change, published as open data under the Open Government Licence. British Fuel Prices records the feed several times a day. Averages cover the forecourts on its Manchester page that reported a price in the 14 days to 22 October 2026; older prices are left out. The Manchester area is the 31 M postcode districts on that page, so it reaches beyond the city council boundary. Weekly changes compare the same forecourts’ prices at both dates. Prices are pump prices in pence per litre, including duty and VAT.
