AJ Bell customer numbers rise 24% to 796,000 in record year

The Manchester-headquartered investment platform reported record assets under administration of £126.0bn for the year to 30 September 2026.

AJ Bell, the investment platform headquartered in Manchester, added 152,000 customers in the year to 30 September 2026, taking its total to 796,000, a rise of 24%, the company said in a trading update on 22 October 2026.

Assets under administration on the platform reached a record £126.0bn, up 22% in the year. Gross inflows rose 36% to £21.5bn and net inflows rose 37% to £9.7bn, compared with £15.8bn and £7.1bn the year before.

Both sides of the platform grew

AJ Bell runs an advised platform and a direct-to-consumer (D2C) platform. D2C customers rose by 140,000 to 602,000, up 30%, while advised customers rose by 12,000 to 194,000, up 7%.

Its investment business reached record assets under management of £12.1bn, up 36%, with net inflows of £1.9bn against £1.3bn a year earlier.

The company said the wind down of its remaining third-party SIPP arrangement will complete in the first quarter of its next financial year (FY27), with most of those customers and assets expected to move to its D2C platform.

Michael Summersgill, chief executive, said: “I am delighted to report an excellent year in which we achieved record customer growth, record gross and net inflows and record assets under administration.”

He said the company had set out at the start of the year to increase investment in brand, marketing and platform propositions, and would keep investing in the new financial year.

AJ Bell, which also has offices in London and Bristol, expects to publish its full-year results on 3 December 2026.
